“She’ll be okay, but she will need to rest. This is taking an emotional toll on her, and I don’t want her to exert more than she really needs to.” Rina nodded her head at the doctor’s word, and gave one last bow as he walks past by her. She stares down at the ground, contemplating, and wondering how it triggered, but she knew it all too well. Rina turns around and looks up, finding Nichkhun Horvejkul standing behind her. “She’ll be okay,” Rina says. She softly runs her hand through her hair before kicking the empty air before her. “I think there are some things you need to know.” Nichkhun nodded his head and quietly followed her to the lounge, where Rina took a seat next to the large window. She ordered them coffee, even though she knew it useless. She was beating around the bush, and no matter which way she had turned, she was cornered. There were too many thorns in her bush. "Song Rina died, the day Ok Taecyeon died." Lee Rina looked out the window. The rays of sun basked in her face. It was on a day like this, they were all so young, so naïve, and never so much in love. They were twenty, everything was possible, and even the world didn’t stand in their way. She sighs; blinking back tears, and swallows down the knot building up in her throat as she tries to find her stolen voice. “You know, when you’re on the outside looking in at Romeo and Juliet’s story, you envy them. You want to be just like them, to have a love so great. To find your star crossed lover, to make sure you’d do better than Romeo and Juliet. Song Rina-Hana, and Ok Taecyeon, they were just like Romeo and Juliet. The only difference was, it was all real: the love, the loss, and the pain. Everything was all real.” How could she ever forget? Just the thought of Ok Taecyeon’s name tugged at her heart. The images etch into every corner of her heart, his laughing face plays dearly in her memories, and his voice sings soft lullabies over and over in her ears. She had kept him locked away so well, in a box with the key thrown away, placed in the deepest end of her heart. Talking about Ok Taecyeon, was like opening Pandora’s box. Even to Rina, opening it was painful. “The day you first laid eyes on me, I was Lee Hana.” Rina looked down, a small smile spread across her face. She can remember it so clearly, the pain drawn upon Nichkhun’s face when she had first laid eyes on him. Hurt, fears, and anger were written all over his face. He had lost a friend, a brother-someone special to him. “There is a void in my heart a place where Ok Taecyeon used to fill up, a home he built and furnished. At the beginning we laughed a lot, in the middle we laughed and cried, and now, all I do is cry. I cried, I cried every day. I missed him, missed him every day. I thought my days would end without him, everything I did I thought about him. “Did you know, that house Ok Taecyeon built in my heart has now long gone. But in Hana’s heart, Ok Taecyeon has built a castle, a castle to shelter her from the cold rain, to hide her from the cruel wind, and to protect her from her fears. She has locked up that castle, hidden with memories of Taecyeon that she’s too scared to open and too scared to let go.” |
